The 24th Annual Symposium on Children’s Grief is co-sponsored by the National Alliance for Grieving Children and The Institute for Continuing Education.   The Conference offers a total of  14.50 contact hours ( 6.00 hrs. for June 17;  6.00 hrs. for June 18;  2.50 hrs. for June 19).    

Continuing education credit is awarded on a session-by-session basis, with full attendance required for the sessions attended.  The CE processing fee is $45.00 per person ( pre-paid)  / $60 per person ( on site ).   Symposium attendees who wish to receive continuing education credit MUST check in at the CE desk to make formal application and receive CE materials for completion.  Staff at the CE desk will have a listing of attendees who pre-paid the CE processing fee.   CE verification is mailed to CE applicants approximately 3-4 weeks from the date that all CE paperwork is received for processing.

NOTE:  To receive continuing education credit, applicants must complete all CE materials, sign in/out at designated locations, and submit an evaluation form for the sessions attended. 

NOTE:  It is the responsibility of the attendee to determine if CE credit offered by The Institute for Continuing Education meets the regulations of their state licensing/certification board.

Psychology:  The Institute for Continuing Education is approved by the American Psychological Association (APA) to sponsor continuing education for psychologists.  The Institute for Continuing Education maintains responsibility for this program and its content.  Not all sessions may be approved for psychology.  Non-credit workshops will be clearly noted in the CE packet received at the Conference.

Counseling:   For counselors seeking CE credit, The Institute for continuing Education will submit a co-sponsorship application to NBCC for this program.  This website will be updated regarding approval  Not all sessions may be approved for counseling.  Non-credit workshops will be clearly note in the CE packet received at the Conference.    

New York: The Institute for Continuing Education is recognized by the New York State Education Department's State Board for Mental Health Practitioners as an approved provider of continuing education for licensed mental health counselors.  Provider MHC-0016.

Ohio Board Counseling/ Social Work:  Ohio Board of Counseling and Social Work Board, Provider RCS 030001.

Social Work:   Application for social work continuing education credits has been submitted.  This website will be updated for approval notification.  Not all sessions may be approved for social work.  Non-credit workshops will be clearly noted in the CE packet received at the Conference.   

New YorkThe Institute for Continuing Education is recognized by the New York State Education Department's State Board for Social Work as an approved provider of continuing education for licensed social workers, Provider SW-0025.

New Jersey This program has not been submitted for pre-approval for New Jersey social workers.

Marriage/Family Therapy:  The Institute for Continuing Education is a recognized provider of continuing education by the Florida Department of Health, Division of Social Work, Counseling, MFT, Provider BAP 255, expiration 03/2021.

New York State Education Department’s State Board for MFT, Provider MFT-0012.   

 

California Professionals: 

Marriage/Family Therapy:  The Institute for Continuing Education, Provider 56590, is approved by the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists to sponsor continuing education for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs.  The Institute for Continuing Education maintains responsibility for this program and its content.  This Course  meets  the qualifications for up to 14.50 hours of continuing education credit for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCC, as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.    

 

Nursing:   The Institute for Continuing Education is an approved provider of continuing education in nursing by the California Board of Nursing, Provider CEP 12646.  Nurses are responsible for checking with their state board to determine if credit issued through an approved provider of the CA Board of Nursing is acceptable by their state board.    

Non-Credit Events: Breakfast, lunch, reception events, committee/business meetings, networking sessions

Non-Credit Sessions Not all workshop sessions may be eligible for the awarding of continuing education credit.  Non-credit sessions will be clearly noted on CE materials distributed at the time of Conference check-in and will be noted on Conference website.  

Ethics Credit:   Ethics hours are not offered for any scheduled workshop event at this Conference.  Continuing education credit hours are not “academic” and may not be utilized toward fulfillment of a degree.

Skills Level:   Due to the interdisciplinary nature of this Conference, sessions have not been rated as to skills level.  Attendees are urged to review the session descriptions to determine appropriateness for professional and personal needs.

Instructional Methodology:  May include lecture, demonstration, audio/visual, experiential practice of techniques, case examples,  large and small group discussion
