By the time they reach college, an estimated 66 to 85 percent of youth have experienced a trauma at some point in their lives (Education Northwest, 2017). Current events, including the COVID-19 pandemic, race-based violence, and natural disasters only increase exposure to trauma, making it all the more important for trauma-informed practices to be infused in our work at all levels. This webinar will explore the impacts of trauma and foundational principles of trauma-informed care. Participants will leave with practical strategies, from direct practice to administration, to create a safer and more supportive space for all.
At the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Describe common impacts of trauma on youth and adults.
- Summarize the principles and benefits of trauma-informed practice.
- Identify and implement 3 trauma-informed strategies in your direct work with clients, at the program level, and/or at the agency level.
