Presentation Description

This presentation provides an overview of risk factors and protective factors as well as ongoing research trends that factor into risk and evaluation of a person in crisis. This presentation will facilitate discussion and evaluation of methods needed to support persons at risk through PowerPoint and online demonstration of suicide assessment and safety apps. The role of the presenter is to introduce innovation and encourage critical thinking in presentation participants around client needs when engaging in suicide assessment, as well as resource and documentation needs to support positive outcomes and appropriate measurements of safety response, including the use of technology.

Objectives

At the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:

1. Participants will evaluate and explore the interaction between risk and protective factors when engaging a person at risk in a formal suicide assessment.
2. Participants will identify engagement strategies for a person at risk in suicide assessment and treatment planning to support symptom management.
3. Participants will assess the latest technology supporting suicide assessment and safety planning in order to evaluate the appropriateness and efficacy of utilizing technology to engage a person at risk.

About the Presenter

Khara Croswaite Brindle is passionate about giving people aha moments that create goosebumps and catalyze powerful action. Khara is honored to serve young adult professionals in her work in mental health and higher education with an emphasis on healing trauma and supporting growth. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Approved Clinical Supervisor, and owner of Croswaite Counseling, PLLC, a group private practice in Denver, Colorado. She enjoys inspiring innovation in shared communities through her CACS Suicide Risk App as well as being the Founder and Executive Director of Catalively, a Colorado nonprofit accelerating innovation in suicide prevention to save lives.
